Welcome to the DC Time Bank!
What is a Time Bank?
Time banking creates communities of generosity and mutual aid where everyone’s time is valued equally. By doing someone a favor for one hour, you earn a time credit that can be spent in the time bank. Examples of exchanges include car rides, child and pet care, gardening, business plan help, and music, language, and art lessons. Time banking can be used to help seniors remain connected and engaged in their communities and independent in their homes. The DC Time Bank was created in 2012, and it now has over 500 members.
Especially during times of economic hardship, it's important that we come together to create a new economy in DC — one that values each of our unique contributions to the community.
New to the concept? A Time Bank creates a currency that values the Core Economy: the economy of home, family, neighborhood and community. If you're unfamiliar with the Time Banking concept, read more on on the About Time Banking page.
